【摘要】:1.1Thesetestmethodscoverthedeterminationoftheenergythatcausesplasticfilmtofailunderspecifiedconditionsofimpactofafree-fallingdart.Thisenergyisexpressedintermsoftheweight(mass)ofthemissilefallingfromaspecifiedheightwhichwouldresultin50%failureofspecimenstested.1.2Twotestmethodsaredescribed:1.2.1TestMethodAemploysadartwitha38.100.13-mm[1.5000.005-in.]diameterhemisphericalheaddroppedfromaheightof0.660.01m[26.00.4in.].Thistestmethodmaybeusedforfilmswhoseimpactresistancesrequiremassesofabout50gorlesstoabout2kgtofracturethem.1.2.2TestMethodBemploysadartwitha50.800.13-mm[2.0000.005-in.]diameterhemisphericalheaddroppedfromaheightof1.500.03m[60.0+0.25,1.70in.].Itsrangeofapplicabilityisfromabout0.3kgtoabout2kg.1.3Twotestingtechniquesaredescribed:1.3.1Thestandardtechniqueisthestaircasemethod.Bythistechnique,auniformmissileweightincrementisemployedduringtestandthemissileweightisdecreasedorincreasedbytheuniformincrementaftertestofeachspecimen,dependingupontheresult(failornotfail)observedforthespecimen.1.3.2Thealternativetechniqueprovidesfortestingspecimensinsuccessivegroupsoften.Onemissileweightisemployedforeachgroupandmissileweightisvariedinuniformincrementsfromgrouptogroup.1.3.3Thestaircasetechniqueandthealternativetechniquegiveequivalentresultsbothastothevaluesofimpactfailureweightwhichareobtainedandastotheprecisionswithwhichtheyaredetermined.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Thevaluesstatedinparenthesesareforinformationonly.Note18212;Testsonmaterialsthatdonotbreak,foranyreason,arenotconsideredtobevalid.Ithasbeennotedthatcertainmaterialsmaystretchsofarastobottomoutatthebaseofcertaintestinstrumentswithoutactuallyrupturing.SubcommitteeD20.19iscurrentlyconsideringmethodsfortestingthesematerials.AnyoneinterestedinparticipatinginaTaskGroupshouldcontacttheChairmanofSubcommitteeD20.19throughASTMInternationalHeadquarters.Note28212;ThistestmethodistechnicallyequivalenttoISO7765-1:1988,withtheexceptionofalargertoleranceonthedropheightinTestMethodB.Also,theISOmethoddoesnotallowthealternativetestingtechniquedescribedinSectionofthistestmethod.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
